Troy Bruins Hockey Team Released Official Logo & Head Coach
Troy, OH – The Troy Bruins Hockey Team has officially released their official logo for the upcoming 2009-2010 season, as well as formally announcing their first head coach.
The Troy Bruins were also pleased to formally announce the team’s first head coach: Shane Hicke.
Shane Hicke has a vast knowledge of hockey from the youth level to the pros. Shane is a college grad and three sport athlete from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire with a degree in Advertising and Marketing.
Shane spent last season in Canada coaching the Innisfil Lakers Jr. A Tier II hockey team. The Lakers had the best record in the regular season, sent 7 players to the All Star Game and in addition to Shane being selected to coach the all-star team, set many season records for the club. Prior to last season, Shane coached with the Helena Big Horns Jr. A Tier III club in the Norpac League winning a championship.
Before coaching at the Junior Hockey level, Shane spent several seasons helping to start up and coaching AAA programs in the West Coast, while winning many State Championships and Tournaments across US and Canada. Shane also has coaching experience at the USA Hockey regional selects program and at the US National Selects festival.
Shane is also the son of former NHLer Ernie Hicke. Ernie played his Jr. Hockey with the Regina Pats and then moved to the Montreal Canadians of the NHL where he was traded to the Oakland Seals for Guy Lafleur. Ernie also played for the Atlanta Flames, New York Islanders, Minnesota North Stars and the LA Kings during his career.

The Troy, Ohio Open Tryout Camp will be held on JUNE 19, 20, 21 at Troy's historic Hobart Arena in downtown Troy, Ohio.

Troy, OH- The Troy Bruins Hockey Team has announced they will compete at historic Hobart Arena for the upcoming 2009-2010 season, bringing competitive and exciting hockey back to the Northern Miami Valley.
The Bruins will play as a Junior “A” team, operating as a developmental program for some of the best amateur hockey talent in the country, while providing the Miami Valley with an affordable and family-friendly winter entertainment destination.
Junior “A” hockey is regarded as one of the top levels of amateur hockey in both Canada and the US, intent on preparing players for the next levels of collegiate and professional hockey, with ages ranging from 16 to 21 years old.
“We wanted to pay homage to the great hockey history in Troy and the Miami Valley, of course with the original IHL Troy Bruins introducing our region to the sport over fifty years ago” noted Bruins President & General Manager Rick Szabo, who also played for the Troy Sabres in the 1980’s and coached Troy’s High School hockey program for over a decade. He added “As a Junior A program, we would like to provide players who are committed and wish to pursue collegiate or professional careers with the opportunity to develop their skills and abilities on and off the ice, as well as gain exposure from higher levels of the game.”
The Bruins will host their first-ever tryout camp on June 19,20 & 21 at Hobart Arena in Troy. The camp open to the public, as they are invited to get a first glimpse at their new Troy Bruins. Additionally, there will be a media conference during the camp to formally introduce the staff and coach, with more information on date, time and itinerary to be released shortly.
Ticket information, sponsorship packages, game schedule and more information will be released in the coming weeks as the Bruins continue to take shape, as well as being available on the newly launched website www.TroyBruins.com.

An expansion team set to join the United Junior Hockey League for the upcoming 2009-2010 season, the Troy Bruins will call historic Hobart Arena home while providing sports fans in the Miami Valley with an affordable, family entertainment option.
Paying homage to the original Troy Bruins minor league hockey team of the 1950's, the Bruins mix nostalgia with their current goal of developing top-level amateur hockey players for the next levels of junior, collegiate and professional hockey in a professional environment.
As the summer months roll on, troybruins.com will be the place for Troy Bruins news, developments and information leading into the innaugural season set to begin in September 2009.
The Troy Bruins have announced the formation of the official Troy Bruins Fan Club.
Fans are encouraged to submit their name and email address via the contact form on the "Fans" page, to receive special fan club emails, invites and deals from the Troy Bruins.
The Bruins are also excited to welcome Deann Bechtol as the first president of the Troy Bruins Fan Club.

The Troy Open Tryout camp is open to all Junior-age (16-20) hockey player and goaltender interested in playing for the Troy Bruins Junior A Hockey Team for the upcoming 2009-2010 season.
Hosted at the home of the Troy Bruins, 3,800-seat Hobart Arena, the open tryout camp will consist of the following: - 4 Saturday Ice Sessions - 2 Sunday Morning Ice Sessions - 1 Sunday Afternoon All-Star Game
Tentative itinerary for the weekend includes: Friday, June 19: - 5-7pm Registration
Saturday, June 20: - 4 Ice Sessions (Times TBA)
Sunday, June 21: - 2 Morning Ice Sessions (Times TBA) - Afternoon All-Star Game (Times TBA)
All tryout participants must fill out tryout application form and pay tryout fee prior to stepping on the ice.
