Troy Bruins Announce “Bucky” As Official Team Mascot

Troy, OH- The Troy Bruins hockey team today announced the addition of Bucky as the official team mascot for the upcoming season.

Bucky, who has amassed regional fame for being the team mascot for the now-defunct Dayton Bombers hockey team for the past 12 years, wasted little time in assuming mascot duties spending his first day on the job (Tuesday) visiting with businesses and mingling with citizens around Troy’s downtown square.

“He [Bucky] is certainly a part of Miami Valley hockey history, and we couldn’t think of a better furry face to join the Troy Bruins as we bring hockey back to Miami County” noted Bruins VP of Communication & Broadcasting JT Szabo, who spent several years as radio announcer for the Bombers before joining his father Rick in bringing the Bruins back to Troy this fall. “Kids and parents alike enjoy Bucky, and we are very excited to have him at all of our games, as well as local community events around the entire Northern Miami Valley”.

The Bruins would like to thank the Dayton Bombers and Ponderosa restaurant for allowing the use of Bucky this season.

As for appearances, the Bruins are also happy to announce that Bucky and several Bruins players will be at the upcoming Miami County Fair set to run from Friday, August 14 to Thursday, August 20, as well as hosting an activity booth on Wednesday’s Kids Day event.

The Troy Bruins, a first-year member of the UJHL, are gearing up for their home opener on Saturday, September 26 at 8pm, and season tickets are now on sale for only $132 per seat for all 24 action-packed games at Troy’s historic Hobart Arena.
